This project involved the transport and delivery of four Wärtsilä generators, each weighing 150 tons, from the Port of Curaçao to Aqualectra for a new power plant. In addition to the generators, we handled the complete logistics of all associated plant materials, which included out-of-gauge cargo, break-bulk shipments, and containerized freight. The gensets were skidded and positioned directly onto their foundations, ensuring safe and precise installation.

Seawings coordinated the full transport of a Coastguard helicopter from Curaçao to Milan, Italy, for repair—and back again. The project began at Hato Airport and continued seamlessly to the repair facility in Italy. Once the helicopter was restored, it was shipped back to Curaçao and transported overland to its base. Due to the height of the helicopter on its flat rack, special road adjustments were required, highlighting Seawings’ ability to anticipate challenges and deliver tailored logistics solutions.

The project involved the transport of approximately 15,000 tons (30,000 m³) of cargo, ranging from small 500 kg pieces to an island-record 280-ton unit measuring up to 40 meters in length. Both sea and air freight were coordinated, demonstrating Seawings' unmatched ability to handle oversized, heavy-lift, and high-value industrial cargo for large-scale energy projects.

Aqualectra Network, Curacao

Alstom signed a 25 million dollar contract to upgrade the power transmission network on the Caribbean island of Curacao in the Netherlands Antilles. The contract is with Aqualectra Curacao N.A., the island's water and electricity utility. A total of 8 new generator sets have been placed on the island with an estimated weight of 85 tons each. Cargo flow was sea- and airfreight.
